2011 MTV Europe Music Awards
The 2011 MTV EMA’s took place today at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The show was stolen by Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber who walked away with a number of the most valuable awards.
Lady Gaga, who cycled between outfits all based on a satellite hat, won best song and best video for ‘Born This Way.’ The Biebs took home the coveted Best Pop trophy.
Other award winners included Bruno Mars who also struck home winning two awards. Queen received the Global Icon award, as a result of their lifetime achievements. The legendary rockers closed the show with Adam Lambert who sung their classics including, “We Are The Champions” and “We Will Rock You.”
There was also a video tribute to the late Amy Winehouse which was presented by Jessie J. “ … It saddens me that i never got to thank Amy for breaking boundaries, as I genuinely believe that without her, I wouldn’t be standing here today. She set a standard for British UK female solo artists, and her music will forever live on.” She said as she introduced the video.
Ultimately, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga dominated the evening.
Justin thanked his family and fans for helping him win the award, he also praised them for supporting him despite “a lot of crap on the internet.”
Lady Gaga accepted each of her awards in a different outfit as usual. This year’s choices were 4 different outfits based on what seemed to be a satellite. She also wore a bizarre oversized tilted UFO like hat which covered her face.
The show was headlined by Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snow Patrol, Adam Lambert + Queen, LMFAO and the host of the show, Selena Gomez.
The show, which was full of A-Listers was only made wilder when one guy ran on stage fully nude when Hayden Panettiere was presenting the award for Best Song.
